GENE KONG
NEW YORK CITY 1980’s
NYC Was no picnic in the 80’s. It was a tough town; crime and decay were part of the city’s “charm”. Back when 42nd street was still 42nd street and not a street at Disney World. Back when the later to become major- Rudolph Giuliani was NY’s US attorney. Welcome to the time of “Bernard Goetz” the infamous “Subway Vigilante”.
Meet Eugene Wong a brilliant genetics engineer with a promising future.
He’s the on top of his field and neurotically dedicated to his work. Eugene is the personification of the ultimate geek. He’s has a bit of a physical ineptitude and has no social life to speak of. No girls, no time out, no fun… just hard work… and his pets.
But he has a good reason and a good cause to work as hard as he can. He’s at the verge of a mayor brake through. Eugene is on a mission to save the world and get rid of hunger and disease. If he can solve the problems at the core there will be no more reasons for human suffering. No crime, no violence no more human decay.
But in the Urban Jungle, he’s the weak link, the ultimate pray and from street to corporate predators, he’s the ultimate victim. And the way of the city is tough on him. He lives in a decrepit, rough and unsafe part of town full drug addicts, drug dealers, thieves and many other unsavory characters. It's the only place he can afford thanks to his unscrupulous boss who exploits him. A failed scientist cum administrator who’s jealous of Eugene’s brilliance and takes all the credit for Eugene’s hard work. He gets no respite from the predators of the urban jungle, and even the cops are bad.
He despises all of them, but he’s powerless to do anything about it. Would he make it in time save the world, or will the ways of city get to him first?
What else could happen? Well, something does happen… something big, almost as big as King Kong… GENE KONG.
