NEW GRAPHIC NOVEL with PEPE MORENO and LARRY HAMA

-------------

IDW PUBLISHING and DIGITAL FUSION INC release Pepe Moreno's Graphic Novel

SAN DIEGO, CA. IDW Publishing in cooperation with Digital Fusion Inc™ today announced the release of PEPE MORENO'S graphic novel, REBEL. In the best tradition of the post-apocalyptic movement and movie classics like The Road Warrior and Escape from New York, REBEL captures the raw essence of the period in its own right. Departing from the standard caped super hero mold, Pepe Moreno's style and aggressive, surgical approach to social commentary shook the world of graphic novels in its infancy. The message of his work still rings true. The combination of powerful story line and intuitive use of color continues to inspire generations of readers.

8.5 x 11-104 pages of expectacular art and compelling storytelling. Glossy, heavy stock paper and the best printing job you have ever seen. A collectors item that has already made some interesting history of its own. Lost of extras, and worthwhile the price.

NYC, 2002-Welcome to the future that never was. After a devastating civil war, society as we knew it has ceased to exist. There are no “superpowers,” and there are no superheroes either. Things are simple. Everything is lethal. There are no cell phones, no Internet, and there’s no 911. To survive you need guns and you must have wheels. Speed, armor-protection and firepower is the new balance of power. It’s the law of the jungle. It is raw, it is dangerous, and it is out of control… and for some is just plane fun.

The work of Pepe Moreno tore a much needed hole in my young comic book reading world. Its almost as if he single-handedly torched all the capes and nullified all the silly costumes with sequential rounds of hollow-point greatness. This was a time when Escape from New York and the Road Warrior blazed through my imagination, and here was a guy fueling my need for that in the comic book world. His masterful storytelling and unforgettable depictions of post-war decay and urban violence kept my mind reeling long past reading it: something tales of mutant powers and spider-bitten kids could never do. He brought my favorite generes to the realm of comics and for this, I and others who wanted more than masks, owe him a debt of gratitude. Thanks Pepe, keep those fires burning...at about 500 rounds per minute (Lee Douhin Antartic Press).

ABOUT PEPE MORENO

Creative impatience. A fitting description for one of the most compelling graphic artists to emerge from the post-apocalyptic movement. His clean line combined with his hard-hitting, unapologetic style defines the much admired trademark of a man whose fans include industry luminaries. His distinctive style is recognized by his fans throughout the world..

Pepe's short and serialized stories were published in comic book magazines such as Metal Hurlant and l'Echo des Savanes in Europe and Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella, Heavy Metal, and Epic magazine in the States. It was in these publications that his first graphic novels would first be seen. It was there that he first wrote installments of ‘Generation Zero' (although this serial wouldn't appear in that format until 1992) and Zeppelin. In the early 1980s he produced his graphic novels 'Rebel' and 'Joe's Air Force', followed by 'Gene Kong'.

A few years later, Pepe Moreno's Batman: Digital Justice was at the forefront of the movement to combine the art of comic books with computer technology. Created in 1990 using a Macintosh II, the book at the very edge of 3D modeling technology, Raster and Vector graphics and emerging painting, drawing and page layout software. Many pre-beta software and many of witch -and most notably color separations- were pioneered with the very development of the book.

Pepe Moreno is also an accomplished game designer. As President of Digital Fusion, Pepe Moreno has an extensive video game background and is the creator and designer of a multitude of very successful products such as the BeachHead brand of games marketed by infogrames. “BeachHead 2000,” “BeachHead 2002” and “BeachHead Desert War” titles have sold more than 500,000 copies as well as hundreds of thousands in additional downloads. The arcade versions of the BeachHead games have consistently ranked as number one in the U.S. The company's success in the arcade arena prompted the development of two additional games, “Desert Gunner” and “Bridgehead” (”BeachHead 3000”). in 2003, DFI released, to critical acclaim, “Tiger Hunt,” a fast paced, arcade style, WWII tank combat game for the PC. “Real pool” for the PC was a bestseller at the time with 360,000 copies sold at retail and more than 2.3 million downloads from Shockwave.com. “Real Pool” was subsequently released as a Sony Playstation title and followed with “Real Pool 2” in 2002. “Panzer Killer,” a follow up title to Tiger Hunt was also released in 2008.
